Supporting our local area

Living in Suffolk means I can enjoy not only some of the best countryside in the UK but also some of the best local produce. We are truly spoilt in the East of England for the quality and abundance of locally sourced good. There is, of course, a place for supermarkets and I, like many other, use them for some of my shopping. But where I can I try to buy meat, fish, fruit and vegetables and specialist products on our high streets and in our markets.

Our local food champions deserve all the recognition that I can help bring and I was recently honoured to welcome many of them down to Westminster to showcase their brilliant produce, including Walsh Mushroom's, Diaper Poultry and Greene King. I want to encourage as many people as I can to buy from local retailers and producers in order to keep our rural economies energised and our community spirit, vibrant.
