Jo Churchill MP delighted by “swift” Government microbeads ban

Jo Churchill MP has expressed her “delight” with the announcement on Friday 2nd September by the Government to introduce a nationwide ban on the sale of tiny plastics, more commonly known as microbeads, in cosmetic and personal care products by 2017.

On Wednesday 24th August, the Environmental Audit Committee released its latest report into the study of microbeads and its environmental impact. Microbeads, a form of microplastic, are small plastic particles commonly found in cosmetic products.

Jo Churchill MP: “We must support our universities and students to thrive”

On Tuesday 19th July, Jo Churchill MP spoke in the second reading debate of the Higher Education and Research Bill in the House of Commons. Brought forward by the Minister for Universities and Science, Jo Johnson MP, the Bill intends to introduce a range of measures including: increasing competition and choice within the higher education sector, raising standards and, through universities and higher education, strengthening the UK research and innovation.  

Jo Churchill MP seeks reassurance for farmers around Basic Payment Scheme

On Thursday 5th May, Jo Churchill MP held the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Liz Truss MP to account regarding the Basic Payment Scheme in the House of Commons. During an oral question session to the Secretary of State and Ministers of the Department, Jo Churchill MP raised her discussions with local farmers:

On Wednesday 27th April, Jo Churchill MP discussed proposals to deliver devolution to East Anglia during a Westminster Hall debate regarding the devolution package. The debate brought forward by Stewart Jackson, Member of Parliament for Peterborough attracted MPs representing the eastern region and called on James Wharton, Minister for Local Growth and the Northern Powerhouse to respond to the debate.
